The United States Armed Forces are the military forces of the United States primarily responsible for the security of United States, policy formulation and management of US military operations.

The US armed forces consist of six service branches that are governed by department of defence. These US military six service branches which include the US Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard.

The president of the United States is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The US presidents controls the US military operations through two federal institutions that includes Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The US armed forces’ policies, administration, and control of their military operations are governed by these two federal executive departments ( DOD and DHS ).

The Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security work as the principal nodal agencies of the US government responsible for the administration of all the military operations of the US armed forces.

Out of the eight uniformed services, the US Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard are six armed services of the United States. The United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps are the other two uniformed services.
